Reiki is a complementary therapy relating to energy healing. The word “Reiki” comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning life energy, and it simply means universal life energy. Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which, according to practitioners, a “universal energy” is transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient, to encourage emotional or physical healing.
Are there risks or side effects?
Reiki is noninvasive and thought to be safe. It doesn’t have any known harmful side effects. For those with a past trauma, lying quietly in a dim room with someone close to you might be uncomfortable.
Reiki is not intended to replace any doctor-approved treatment plan.
